El artículo analiza el proceso que da lugar a la formación de los Estados republicanos en la Nueva Granada y Venezuela a partir de la crisis política de la monarquía española. Se estudian los procesos electorales, la formación de juntas y el ejercicio de la representación en los congresos que se constituyen en cada una de estas entidades. Se analizan los enfrentamientos que tienen lugar entre monarquistas y republicanos hasta la constitución de la República de Colombia en 1821 y se abordan las iniciativas que se adelantan para formar la nueva nación hasta su disolución en 1830.
In this paper we analyze the process of formation of Republican States in the Nueva Granada and Venezuela resulting from the political crisis of the Spanish monarchy. We study the electoral procedures, the establishment of assemblies and the practice of representation in the congresses instituted in each of these states. We also discuss with the clashes between monarchists and republicans up to the creation of Colombia in 1821, and evaluate the initiatives leading to the formation of the new nation until its disintegration in 1830.
