¿Por qué se guardaron y preservaron los manuscritos autógrafos a partir de mediados del siglo xviii? Este artículo analiza las razones de la ausencia de tales manuscritos antes del siglo xviii, la asociación entre las nociones de singularidad de la escritura, originalidad de la obra y propiedad literaria que los hicieron esenciales, y su consecuencia: la relación que se estableció entre la obra del autor y la vida del escritor y la composición de las biografías literarias.
Why were autograph manuscripts kept and preserved only after the mid-eighteenth century? This article examines the reasons of the absence of these manuscripts before the eighteenth century, the novel association of notions of individual authorship, aesthetic originality and literary property that made them essential and their consequence: the relation established between the author’s work and the writer’s life and the writing of literary biographies.
