Tras la Guerra Civil se reformaron los reglamentos del Seguro de Maternidad (1929) y de la Obra Maternal e Infantil por la elite del Instituto Nacional de Previsión. Las discusiones que rodearon estas modificaciones demuestran la persistencia en el régimen de Franco de nociones sobre la protección de las mujeres obreras y la intervención del Estado en las relaciones sociales procedentes de etapas anteriores. Asimismo, la revisión de estos textos abrió el espacio necesario para la incorporación de nuevos significados en torno a la maternidad, que resultó impregnada de las nuevas concepciones pronatalistas de la dictadura.
When the Spanish Civil War was over, the regulations of the Obra Maternal e Infantil (Agency for Motherhood and Childhood) were reformed by the elite of the Instituto Nacional de Previsión (National Institute for Social Prevision). The debates around this reform confirm the persistence of conceptions about the female workers’ protection and the state intervention in social relations that had been developed before the war. On the other hand, these debates enabled a transformation of the meaning of maternity, a concept that became full of pro-natalist connotations, following the guidelines of the dictatorship.
