Las consecuencias del ciclo revolucionario de 1848 en España han sido interpretadas tradicionalmente en la historiografía española e internacional en clave de fracaso y excepción respecto al resto del continente europeo. Sin embargo, una nueva visión al 48 español a la luz de la historia transnacional y comparativa nos permite reinterpretar su significado y relativizar las diferencias entre las dinámicas políticas y sociales que tuvieron lugar en la Península y el resto del continente a lo largo del «año de la revolución». El objetivo del presente artículo es proponer esta nueva visión para abordar el estudio del 1848 español.
Spanish and international scholars have traditionally interpreted the consequences of the 1848 revolutionary cycle in Spain in terms of «failure» and «exception» with respect to the rest of the European continent. However, by adopting a transnational and comparative perspective, it is possible to generate a novel interpretation of «Spain’s 48» and better situate the differences between the social and political dynamics that took place on the Peninsula and the rest of the continent during the so-called «year of revolution». The main goal of this paper is to propose this new approach to the study of 1848 in Spain.
